Fifty years ago, America was changed forever by the voices and determination of nine young courageous high school students. In 1957-58, America was a nation of inequalities; a country without civil rights for all her people -- a segregated land where skin color determined not only where you sat on the bus, but where you worked, where you lived and where you attended school. Daisy Bates and the Arkansas State Conference of the NAACP changed all that.
But it could not have been done without the nine and their parents.
Join the Colorado Springs Branch NAACP as we live the legacy of civil rights -- and beyond -- through the eyes of Carlotta Walls Lanier, a member of the historic Little Rock Nine.
